Founded in 2026, Horse Thieves Chess Club is an inclusive, community-focused, social chess club based in Tivoli & Red Hook, NY. 

What is "social" chess?  Social chess simply means we prioritize casual games over tournament-style play. We talk while we play. We laugh loudly while we play. And, most importantly, we build community while we play. 

We host chess meetups at various spots around town—breweries, cideries, public parks, libraries, community centers, coffee shops and more!  Most events are all ages, but we also host kid-focused and adults-only sessions too! Beginners are always welcome!
